Invitational Game

Last weekend we made our way to an Invitational Game that was about 45 mins from us.  The boys had been told after the Championship game about this option and how they would be bringing the 4 local teams together to create a single team to represent River View.  Our practice was to be that Tuesday, JD took Isaiah down, and only 4 boys total were there.

We go back on Wednesday and again the same 4 boys are there.  We are told they will call more players and will have enough for the game on Saturday.  We were first told the game would be at 9 and then told 10:30.  On Friday we got the call they had enough boys and the game would be at 9, could we please have him there at 8.

It was so cold last Saturday that we all had trouble getting up from our nice warm beds.  We didn’t get there till a little after 8 and again the same 4 boys.  Slowly more and more made their way to the parking lot.  We watched as two other teams took the field and realized, that yes our game was at 10:30 Smile

Our boys took the field around 10 and to face the opposing team.  Now remember our boys have not practiced as one team, they have a new coach that coached the older boys, they are used to coaches being on the field with them, and here that was not allowed.  They had to remember what they were doing.

The game began and the other team was good.  We lost 22-0 Winking smile

On Sunday the boys made the trip back, Roo and I skipped ‘cause of dance later that day.  I felt so guilty especially when I rec’d the texts keeping me updated.  Isaiah played a really good game that day running a 60 yard touch down, it was called back because of holding.  He ran a good 9 yard run, 20 yard run, and had some really good hits.  Sadly, I have no pictures of this game but the ones below, from JD’s phone.

They won 8-6 and the team rec’d a trophy. He then went on to play another game with the 5th and 6th graders. He played a few series on both offense and defense. JD said he got a lot of good experience.
