Our weekend

I’m late this week on my weekly picks so I’ll just pick that up next week. This past week has been very hectic with Thanksgiving/Gideon/Traveling/Decorations/etc.

Last week Isaiah also had to make an instrument that changed pitch, we decided on the bass. I had seen on the internet a video of someone making a bass and thought it looked simple for him to do but different. We got our container of oats, clothes pins, and dental floss, however that didn’t work. So then we thought let’s just put rubber bands around the top of it and he could pluck them, but I didn’t like that idea as well. I went to wal-mart the next day and found fishing line so we used that with the clothes pin and got sound. We then painted it and decorated it up, he got to bring it home tonight but we don’t know his grade yet.

We also decided to go to WV on Friday evening after the WVU/Pitt game (blahhh). It was a nice trip down after all the stress I had been under it was nice to get away and knit with my mom, watch some tv with my dad, and of course laugh. On Saturday Isaiah got up and went hunting with my dad, doesn’t he looked thrilled? Have I mentioned that he rarely lets me take a good photo of him?

Here is him and dad ready to start their hike up the mountain, they didn’t see anything though.

Later we went over to JD’s grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Several of them don’t come back in for Christmas so the kids exchanged gifts. The picture above is them sitting and waiting for the gift exchange to begin.

Here is a photo of them tearing into the first round.

Here is the littlest one trying his hardest to open his gifts, he is just too cute!

The guys also like to play football after dinner and I snapped this shot of JD and his dad practicing : )

After dinner and the gifts I went back to mom’s house while they all went to the gym. We hit the local store for the cutest Christmas stuff and also got my grandmother her winter grave arrangement. We chose out a pine theme that had what was to be white snow on it, pine cones, pine, and then we had them add a red cardinal (her favorite to the center). It was really pretty and was very happy with it. We took it up to the cemetery and then went home a bit for more knitting.

I finished the wrist warmers, YAY!

My grandmother called a bit later and wanted me to come up and see her tree; she didn’t have one last year. This year she has a nice enclosed porch where she can see it snow and a heater to keep her warm. The tree is just perfect and really if I lived there I would never leave that porch lol.

Later on JD brought the kids back over for a bit, and then Isaiah went over for a little longer. Roo wanted to stay and watch her Charlie Brown shows, they were on ABC Family and she loved watching them all. When dad mentioned them to her I think he thought it was only the Christmas one, it ended up being a couple of hours of back to back episodes lol. Above is her jamming, it’s one of the gifts she received that day.

We then came back home on Sunday, I wanted to leave at 7 but didn’t wake or budge till 9, I couldn’t believe it. I guess that’s what happens when you stay up late talking/knitting lol. We headed home then in the rain and icky ness. It reminded me again of why we don’t travel home for Thanksgiving. The traffic was bad and some of the drivers need to go back to driver’s ed. Another reason we don’t go in much is ‘cause I like to use that weekend to get ready for Christmas.

So we came home and got busy…I’ll show those photos later we have one more tree to get up and we will be done. I still have to make the candy for the countdown box, and the kids are behind on their ornaments now. So this week is catch up week, when really I should be knitting Christmas gifts lol.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.
