This weekend we took a trip back home, which is totally out of the norm for us. Typically after the trip in August that is it till Christmas. JD and some of his work buddies though had planned a rafting trip back late/May or early June. We went along for the ride and to see family : )
In this post I’m just gonna post pictures about our trip and tomorrow I’ll post more on the knitting side of things. You will also notice that only one child is posted here this time, that’s because Isaiah has started to hide (no,run) from the camera now. I don’t know why?

Thursday, Roo started her first day of dance camp and had a great time she was so excited before we left (top). Once there she just fit right in and didn’t even want me to watch her (parents could this first class), she made right up with the other little girl’s.

Here they are with their tap shoes on doing a little marching diddy, they also had ballet and tumbling.

After that we hurried home to start packing things up, JD took off on Thursday do to a bad cold and wanting to get an early start to WV. We packed up the car and headed off to pick up Isaiah at school.

The a/c in my car decided to go out a few weeks ago so we had to take the trip with all the windows rolled down, it was hot and LOUD. I worried about the kids but then remembered I could hook up headphones to their dvd player. Isaiah basically hooked his up to the nintendo ds though and that kept them content on the car ride.

Here we are going up the mountain which we took unusually fast this time. The kids call it “shooting” the mountain. As you see below that is suppose to be the Mystery Hole but I had no chance to catch it.

Here we are almost to the top of the mountain...

and I think that sign below says something about our home town…the guys were already waiting for JD at the cabin sooo everything was kinda a blur that drive home lol.

After JD dropped us off at mom’s and the kids went to bed, mom let me try out her spinning wheel. It was an adventure trying to keep the wheel going the right way with your feet, remembering to stop it, remembering to pinch the yarn, and pull the draft…it was very interesting : )

On Friday we had lunch with my grandfather, Aunt Wilma, Kathy, and mom it was nice to visit with them all. After work the kids then went up there Mama’s and played with their cousins they had a great time.

We picked them up there and then headed to my grandmother’s house. This little humming bird kept buzzing the porch and every time I would get my camera out he would buzz away…finally I just sat and waited : )

This is Sammy he is 14 yrs old and has an extra set of toes on his paws (he is also missing his tail) used to be we were scared of him as he would attack us. Now he just lays around and wants to be loved on. This is her little shih-tzu, Dickie, he goes everywhere with them and pouts when he doesn’t get his way.

On Saturday, JD came in early and we had a quiet day at Mom’s house. He went to his parent’s house for the game and then we had a campfire. Roo gets a kick out of those and roasting marshmallows (even though she doesn’t like them). We dug out their coal miner flowers too so they could take them home, they have been growing in Yogi’s basement since June.

We made the trip early this morning, hoping it wouldn’t be to hot. Thankfully, it was cloudy and not hot at all so we only had to have the windows cracked a bit.
Coming home I snapped this photo. Now do you know who Yeager was named for?

I hope you all have a great day of knitting : )
Over on WVU Press Box, JD has posted about his rafting trip too : )

What a great surprise trip! How long does the drive take? And the kids were occupied, that's always a plus.
Hope JD feels better and have a good week. Happy knitting to you also.
Thank you, he is feeling better, YAY!
It takes us abou 3.5 to 4hrs depending on if we stop much or not...so not bad at all.
