As the Olympics come to a close tonight so do the Ravelympics. I’m sad to see both end as I really enjoyed seeing everyone’s projects and of course now what will I watch??

I started Team West Virginia in hopes that maybe 2 would join me and I did make mom join me ‘cause who wants to be alone, but fellow West Virginians came through and we ended up with a total of 13 members. YAY!!

I was able to cross the finish line in both of Mitten medley events (hence the Mitten awards on the side). I didn’t get to cross the Sock Put finish line though as that yarn is still in a hank lol.
Mom was able to cross the finish line in all 3 of her events: WIP Wrestling and Gift Knits Pentathlon (twice). Here she was afraid that she wouldn’t make it at all and she beat me, she even had time to send me her FOs so I could take photos and put them on Ravelry for her! I would post photos but they are Christmas gifts and not sure if I should. : )
The two mittens I completed were the Norwegian Mittens that I posted about before, but here is another shot of them.

Then we have the WV mittens, my challenge was to design a pair of mittens that JD would wear. First I started out by charting it out and having him look it over and letting me know what he thought. He didn’t want me to go crazy with the colors like I would have liked but I guess that would have made them more for a girl lol. The first mittens were frogged a bunch of times, it took me awhile to get the thumb started off right, figuring out the design (we went off from the chart), and then also the top decreases so that they didn’t look weird. He wanted a square top and the first few tries looked really wonky, of course I still had to go back and pick up the thumb sts, and that took some figuring on how to finish the top of it off. I think in the end we come up with a mitten he will wear, I hope : P

Right now I’m working on the CW shawl and have it up to Rnd 144 it took a long time to work the first Round this afternoon, I kept making crazy mistakes. The other rounds went a bit faster, but I’m still averaging about an hour or longer for a lace round (not as long for the knit round). I find that on the knit round the house is calm, but it’s like the kids/pets can sense when I start that lace round and that’s when I’m hit with fighting, questions, anything else… Of course that throws me off and I have to stop and recount lol. I have no idea how I will get this done by Sept 4th! Right now I only have 15 rounds to go and then I’ll be at the edge, I told JD this week the housework may have to go so I can work on it. I really want to take it to mom’s with me and have her help me with the blocking on it.
I hope you all have a great day/night of knitting : )

Yea! Congrats on both sets of mittens. They look so pretty and warm.
Try using some markers every lace repeat or so. Or every three repeats, whatever works with the pattern.
I did that for my Feb Lady sweater, and it worked.
