Home again, Home again Jiggity Jig…we’re so happy we could kiss a fat pig

When I was little my dad would sing this when we would pull back into our driveway, and now Roo and I sing this when we pull back into our driveway lol, of course Isaiah is too cool to sing with us ; ) The picture above is in WV of an ol' railroad bridge.

It’s hard to describe the feeling I get when we cross that bridge, every time it’s the same feeling, doesn’t matter how long I’ve been away, or how short the trip…when I see that sign I’m filled with peace and happiness. I feel like the mountains are my security blanket as Roo rides along in the back seat with hers. It’s a feeling I hope will never go away.

Of course this blog post will be long with talk of family, WV, and a few knitting items might be thrown in. I didn’t think I took very many photos this trip until I was trying to decide which ones to use here lol.

We had a great time in WV only thing I would have changed is the missing feeling for JD but the next trips going home he will be with us. The kids helped Yogi in the garden, played in the back yard with Sadie Mae, went out to lunch with their great-grandfather, they went fishing again, saw some itty bitty 2 day ol’ kittens, had a water balloon fight with their uncle, and all in all just had a great week.

My brother came down one evening and came inside…he announced that he had a surprise and if you wanted to see it you had to go outside. Knowing that his cat was expecting any day I thought kittens?? But would he take them away from the mom so young? Well we all went out of course to find him holding a laundry basket, with a towel all wrapped up around something…we were told to stand in the yard so we could see it and of course for some reason we listened…imagine our surprise when he carefully un-wrapped the towel and then started slingin’ water balloons our direction *sigh* lol : )

Mom and I dyed some yarn, above is her dying her flat feet from Knit Picks, she had ordered 2 of those, 2 of the merino silk, and 2 of the other that has specks of color going through it. We had a fun time dying it up….

Here it is drying in the front yard, we then winded up the 2 flat feets and the edges still wanted to stick together (my one complaint about this yarn).

Here is what mom’s looked like when winded up (very pretty!!)

We also looked through mom’s yarn stash and found this really pretty purple color yarn. She had gotten it for her civil war shawl but then changed to another yarn; it’s a dk weight and should be plenty for a sweater for me and Roo YAY!! I have been looking at patterns but I can’t start anything till I finish up some stuff : )

I seen Linda on Friday morning she stopped by mom’s and looked really good. She was tired as she drives 2hrs for 9mins of Radiation and then 2hrs home again every day, except Monday and then she stays for 2hrs and 9mins cause of Chemo and Radiation. She has one week down and 4/5 more left to go, please keep her in your prayers. She is still knitting away when she can, she has had a lot of bad days lately, but soon this will be behind her and she will be a knitting storm! After she left mom came home to get us. We were supposed to go have lunch with my Aunt and Kathy, when we got there Linda and Jim were eating as well so it was one happy get together in Subway! : )

I love to take photos but as I was going through them I noticed something. I would have Mama with one child or the other and the same with Papa, none of them all together since Roo was a baby. So this trip I fixed it : )

Of course I always enjoy watching dad work in the blacksmith shop, trying to learn more about it every trip and remember what I learned from the past trips. Above he is working on Isaiah a knife for a keepsake, it’s made from an ol’ WV railroad spike

See the nice twist he put on it? He is getting better and better with each trip and for Christmas he is planning Bells, I can’t wait to see them.

Here he is working on Roo an inside out cross (which I still have to get a photo of), he also made her a heart out of 2 nails he made. Below is a photo of a candle holder he is still working on. I think this one looks good but he isn’t happy with them yet.

After the kids would go to bed mom and I would set around the table and knit sometimes till after midnight lol. I finished my Bird in hand mittens finally!! I started them back in December but the worsted on size 1s just killed my wrists so I put it away. I’m glad to have them finished although the first one is bigger than the 2nd oh well lol.

I talked mom into joining the ravelympics with me lol, she is doing the gift and wip event. She has one event finished and now is working on the gift event; I have no event finished lol. I do have one mitten finished so that is a good start?? Right??

I also got her started on another pair of socks so she has 3 otn right now that is unheard of for her lol. I have the Yarnsmackdown sock on my needles and it’s not a hard pattern, I just can’t seem to find time to knit. Although the Olympics are my obsession right now and you would think one could get a lot of knitting done during that time, however, I haven’t accomplished that yet.

I do have 4 dishrags complete YAY! So that is something right? LOL

This one stayed behind in WV at Mama's house : )

On the way home we stopped at my waterfalls (ok so it’s not really mine) but I have loved this waterfall as long as I can remember, even before it became a tourist stop. I have also always wanted to have JD and I renew our wedding vows here on our 10th Anniversary. I have it all planned out... only catch in the plan is JD lol : )

I enjoyed my camera on the way to WV and then back to OH, here is a photo of a train that Isaiah wanted me to capture.

Here is the capital with its pretty gold and black dome.

When we made it home I found that I had a package from SWTC, they had sent me the 2 skeins to make up for the one I used on Sydney. They are really pretty colors! Thank you! : )

Other than that we are just enjoying the last full week before school starts back, Isaiah still doesn’t know who he will have for 2nd grade. Our lawn mower has a bent blade and won’t cut the grass very well, Yeager had an expensive vet visit, and now JD’s car is messing up, so yep everything is getting back to normal lol : )

I hope you all have a great day of knitting : )

Sounds like you had another great trip! I know how you feel about your 'my waterfall' I have 'my spot' on the mountains here, a place where I just love in the fall, the leaves all turn just right & it's just like a postcard. I'll try to take a pic for you. Glad you're back, we missed you on KH.

Tell your Dad his candle holder looks great and I like the twisted letter opener/knife. That would look nice on the wall.

The kittens are oh so cute. The dyed yarn looks great and your mittens are adorable. I love them even if one is a little bit bigger. Lovely pics also.
