After the recital Roo decided she would like to try out for the Elite Dance Force. I wasn’t too sure and felt maybe she should wait another year, get 1rst grade under her belt, but in the end it was decided to give it a try.
I had heard different things that they wouldn’t really cut her age group ‘cause they didn’t want to really lose the girls. It was more to get them used to the pressure ‘cause the older girls have more cuts, there is 3 groups total. Then I heard from other parents that had girls in her age group that some had been cut in the recent years.
They told me to have her practice but not to get her nervous, the judges would want to see her true personality. Dress her cute and not just in everyday dance wear (to me that is easy ‘cause she is already so cute).
So we made it fun with glitter, and flowers in the hair, some glitter on the face, and she thought she was styling.
The night before we had friends over and they practiced a bit and it was made easy and light going.
While waiting you could tell how nervous the parents were they were way more tense than the kids. Some would go to the door and give advice, I tried to stay calm and only go in when Roo was hanging off the balance beams or on the boxes. Roo had no nerves it seemed, she just took it all in stride. The judges were late and the girls were getting more and more hyped up.
Doing a run through before going into the other room for judging. It was a closed audition so we all sat there waiting for the door to open…then the wait would continue.
We had to wait for a letter to come in the mail to give us the final word. Roo got her letter today:
Sorry this picture was taken by my phone :D
So what does all this mean? It means come next spring we will be going to dance competitions and the girls dance at local events like H.S . basketball games, Cavs game, and so on. : )
We can also do fund raising through the dance studio or on our own. Another mom and me have our creative thinking caps on for the girls, dad has said he will make a few things for them to sale, in the end it’s all for good times and making new friends :D
