Video Thursday

Today's video is of Roo reading a book to us. Several months ago she moved to the last table, meaning she was reading at 1rst grade level. She would still come home though and say "I can't read" and I would say "yes you can, look at how you read the baggie books"...but for some reason the books she had to read every night didn't mean she could read on her own.

Until the day she picked this book out at the library and it opened up a new world to her. She came a running outside to me with "Momma, I can read!" I of course was like umm...I know. She then sat down and read the whole book to me only needing help with a couple of words.

That night I heard her running to JD with "Daddy, I can read!" and she read him the book as well. She was so tickled with herself that she has now been picking up books to see how far she can get before having to ask for help.

She even took this book to class yesterday and asked if she could read it to her classmates, the teacher allowed her to read part of the book before the had to move on to something else.

So tonight she reads you guys a little bit of the book. I hope she continues to get excited for them! : )
