Thankful

My kids usually ride the bus and at the latest are here at 4:15 and that is a really rare occasion. So at 4:20 I began to worry especially since I had seen my n'bor go down in his fire truck with lights on. I started to text JD to feel him out on how worried I should be. At 4:24 I placed my first call to the school and no answer and so I then called the bus garage and got no answer.

I texted back and forth with JD wondering if I should call the n'bor but I figured if it was 'cause of the wreck the bus was prolly held up in the traffic and he would be pretty busy.

As I watched out the window I noticed that cars are coming like no hold up..so I called the bus garage again at 4:45 still no answer. I then called our n'bor whose little boy comes over she always picks him up, she said she would drive down the road and check things out. She called me back and said she had found them and that they were ok, she had finally called the n'bor to see what was going on.

All I knew was the bus slid off the road and all the kids were ok, that they had been placed on a new bus.

At 4:58 my n'bor called me and first thing I said was "do you have my kids?" and he told me that the kids were ok that he had stayed with them and made sure they were. That they were on their way home to me...I was still annoyed.

So I called the bus garage again and prolly left a message I will regret but I was mad that they had not called me.

In between all this I was texting JD, mom, and calling them both...pacing back and forth outside in the snow.

At 5:12 they were still not here and I continued to pace...

finally the bus was here! I was so happy to see it and so thankful the kids were ok. I was going to get pictures of them but the principal got off and was talking to me, I asked him phone call?? He said didn't Sally get a hold of you? umm no...

Roo ran up to me and let the tears flow that she had been holding back, Isaiah was calm and pale. Our n'bor then pulled up and said they really did a wonderful job...he looked at Roo and said it's ok to be shook up, I was too when I see the bus like that. Umm I was like what I thought it just slid off the road?? Isaiah said to him "Thank you for saving us"...

I took the kids in to get the full story, Roo still griping me so tight and not saying a word. Isaiah begin to tell the story of them going up a road that wasn't treated, feeling like he was on a carnival ride, and then the bus tipped, being told everyone move to the left side so it wouldn't go on over, to our n'bor placing a ladder by the window and them coming out backwards, he was worried he would get an F on his homework they were told not to bring their bookbags in case the extra weight caused more issues, being placed on a new bus, everyone worried this bus would do the same...

Then Roo spoke "Mommy, tomorrow can I be a pick upper? and will you take me to school?, I don't wanna ride the bus till spring."

I'm so thankful they are ok, still annoyed the bus garage didn't call me, never wanna feel that panic again. : )

ETA: Here is the article in the local paper, although it states all parents were contacted some how we were overlooked, I guess.

Oh, what a scare ! Glad that the kids are Ok and home safe.

In any case, the bus driver should calls the company and the staff SHOULD inform the parents.

By reading this, Roo is sure scare out !!Hope that this incident will not haunt her, and time will slowly ease her fear.

Maybe for the time being, you can send her to school (to comfort her and assure her that is gonna be fine)

Hugs to the kiddos and kisses to Roo pls, Jayne wants to give a kiss pat to Roo too.

I'm so thankful everything was ok. Being 4 hours away in times like these makes me crazy. I wanted to be there. I was like Dustina at first I thought it just slide off the road. But then when the story came out they had to try and tie it to a tree to support the bus first to keep it from turning over while they got them out. I thought oh no, God must have been keeping his hand on that bus while they were in it. I just had to pray and thank God for taking care of everyone on that bus. Don't even want to think what would have happened if it had rolled over the hill.

Give the kids a big hug today. I just love them so much. MaMa
