We are a Soccer family now

In WV growing up soccer wasn’t very big, my brother played but still most of the focus was on football. Up here though it seems soccer is very very popular. So it wasn’t surprising that the kids would want to play, although JD and me prefer other sports lol.

Isaiah was suppose to have his first practice last Tuesday but was rained out so it was scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 *gah*. That is when Roo’s practice is and starts at 5. So I told her coach I’m staying as long as I can but will you please make sure that she doesn’t run off till her dad can get here? He said yes he would watch her so I gave him her water bottle and sat in the car till it was time to go. Time rolled around and I still had trouble leaving but heard from JD who assured me he was almost there…so again I went back to the coach to let him know basically that if something happened to my little girl I would get him (I was nice about it, in that southern charm “bless your heart” way.)

I then took Isaiah to his practice and waited for the call to let me know that JD had made it and she was ok. I then could sit back and enjoy Isaiah’s practice and you know what? He did good, his very first practice of soccer and wow. He didn’t sit back and watch or wonder like he did in wrestling he just got out there and fought for the ball. I was very proud of him, he still holds back though if a girl gets close to him, you can tell he doesn’t want to kick her, which I think is sweet, but in soccer there is no sweet I found out. : )

JD and Roo joined us after her practice was over and then we came home, you would think the kids would have been wiped out but they wanted to practice some more…

JD got out there and worked with them, the garbage can marked the goal place.

Then on Saturday it was first game time we had to be at the field before 9 for Roo’s game and those little kids are too cute to watch, even though they really don’t understand what they are doing lol.

If someone stopped the ball they would just all stand there like ummm ok now what, till they could hear someone yell KICK IT…then they would be off again.

Roo was put in as goalie right off and every ball got passed her, then when another girl was goalie after she stopped the ball another player on the other team kicked anyways and got her hand, while she was hurt they had all the other players go to one knee…but Roo somehow slipped by and you could see her out there with hand on hips letting the player have it that had kicked her teammate *gah* : )

I’m still not really sure how the teams were divided up Roo starts kindergarten this coming fall, but was put on a team that everyone will be going into first grade. Also the team they played was all boys but 1 girl and you could tell they had played before they knew what they were doing…Roo’s team only 1 or 2 have played before and it showed…they got beat 6/7 to nothing…thankfully Roo isn’t aware that a score is being kept yet.

After Roo’s game we had an hour till Isaiah’s game. We found a picnic table and they had some snacks that I had prepared for them…

I’m so glad that I decided to pack the little cooler thing up, it really came in handy.

Now for Isaiah’s first game he went up against his best friend, Jackson. Yep the boy that you see in a lot of pictures here…Jackson has been playing for 5yrs and he is really really good…

but Isaiah stood his ground and he played hard.

Jackson is great at blocking, something Isaiah will learn in time…it was hard to cheer for them both ‘cause most of the time if Jackson had the ball Isaiah was trying to take it from him, or the other way around. Jackson’s dad was beside us cheering Isaiah on as well.

During Isaiah's game, Roo made a friend...this was the only girl on the opposing team that she played earlier. They had a great time singing and dancing around : )

As soon as the whistle was sounded for the end of the game they were back to tackling one another…

And all smiles, Jackson’s team won but I think it was like 4-3 or 3-2…

Last week Jackson was down and they were dancing in the living room together while playing the Wii lol

On the knitting end I finished up a test knit sock that I can share with you guys on May 1rst and now I’m starting a lace test knit.

We have a busy week here is what it looks like:
Monday-Roo’s very first birthday party she gets to go bowling, Isaiah is not happy that he also has to go.
Tuesday-Hopefully the rain will stop so Isaiah can have his practice, I really don’t wanna go through Thursday again with me trying to be in 2 places
Wednesday-Dance class
Thursday-Going on the field trip with Isaiah’s class then rushing home for Roo’s soccer practice
Friday- I have AR testing like every Friday morning
Saturday-Back to the soccer fields hoping the games are 9 and 11 again…some will be 9 and 12 blahh, then we have Jackson’s birthday party…
Sunday-We will have a grumpy Isaiah from staying up all night at Jackson’s : )

I know most moms have weeks like this all the time but I’m a home body and really don’t like them, but gonna have to get used to them: )

I hope you all have a wonderful day of knitting!
