One thing I can say about WV is at least you can see the sun, since coming home we have been living with peeks of the sun poking through now and then. We have also enjoyed thunderstorms and more rain, which in WV we had good weather…except for on Wednesday. Hopefully, this will all change though, as Amish Henry says the summer will be dry since Good Friday was. I also hope this means warmer temps : )
On coming home I noticed that my favorite barn cat, Missy, wasn’t in her normal spot. On the deck looking hopefully in the doors. I thought maybe she was with her baby but from it’s cry coming from the shed I knew better. I still have no clue what could have happened to her, she was not one to venture off at all. She had a routine that you could set your clock by; all day on the deck waiting for food and some loving, night time she moved to the front of the house to catch moths under our big light. She was the only barn cat that would let me pick her up and love on her, of course this was under her terms, and at any given minute she would remind me she was a barn cat not used to love like Gideon and Bella are spoiled with.
This also left us with a little kitten with no momma. I tried to feed him (think it is a him) but it wasn’t going very good he was hungry and I couldn’t get him calmed down. When I noticed Sallie who has older kittens laying in the grass. The first day was rough she would only let him feed if I petted her. If I stopped and her attention was brought back to the kitten she would hiss and march away. Thankfully she took it yesterday to the barn and put it with her kittens. Which is in a huge box in the loft of the barn now…so I can’t get pictures of them.
It also left us with a lonely brother, Theodore, who was never far from Missy’s side. I still don’t understand if she wondered off why he didn’t go. He looks so lost just roaming around the deck, he has become more friendly though with us and the other barn cats.
The horses are working hard on the front pasture, I couldn’t believe how much they had taken down.
The momma deer and her babies are still around, she is still hobbling along on 3 legs. Now she has decided that she wants my apples though and this is not going very well with me. I want those apples this fall for pies and jam. She is standing on her back legs to get up in our tree.
The baby trying to distract me while the mother works hard to steal some apples.
Our tomatoes are growing (we don’t like tomatoes though) : )
The purple flowers like the hot pink ones that have already bloomed
Pretty flowers they are a lot brighter in person but its cloudy
In person this is a bright yellow.
The kids have been enjoying the pool today and playing on the deck. I picked up 2 more boxes of jam mix but could prolly use another. Put more strawberries back into the freezer after today’s batch. I can’t wait to make other jams this summer : )
