Last Tuesday we left for WV and it was the longest trip ever, Isaiah didn't feel well so we had to make pit stops the whole way in.
My grandfather was moved to the nursing home on Wednesday and I was able to visit with him a couple times a day. It was hard saying bye to him yesterday, he always chokes up on me which makes me then choke up, which means then we can't look at one another. On Saturday we took the kids in they had been wanting to see him, but I wasn't sure what they would think of the nursing home, but Roo had so many worries we decided it was for the best. It was nice to see my grandfather's face as they walked into the room it just lit up. Roo sang some songs for him, as Isaiah sat quietly being shy, Papa then told them when they see him again he would be at home and able to get up and jump. : )

Most of the time the weather wasn't sunny but rainy and gloomy. When it did peek through we ran outside to enjoy the porches for a bit. The kittens had really grown, that is Sarah (white/spots) and Patsy (gray), mom changed their names from Oscar and Patch lol.

Little Sunshine was also a cutie and loved to help me knit, here she stole my pen. Mom if you find it can you put it up for me? That is my favorite pen lol it smells like candy canes when you write with it lol

It's no surprise to anyone that the cats love Isaiah, he just has a way with animals. However, like most they tend to run from Roo...she was so excited when Sunshine let her hold her, she played with Roo's hair, and then settled in for a nap.

Isaiah wanted Roo to play him a game, but Roo thought the rackets were better suited for a guitar.

Whenever we go to WV the kids look forward to movie night with Yogi. This time Isaiah wanted to see Indiana Jones, at first I said no way, but after talking to JD, I gave in. Roo didn't stick with it very long and ended up watching Elmo's Christmas in the other room lol

When we visited my grandmother she wanted to know if at Christmas could I show her to knit again. She used to knit a long time ago, she then stopped and crocheted...which is all I have ever seen her do. I showed her how I knit (continental) and she said no that wouldn't work, so I showed her how to throw. However, once we got her going and she started talking it all came back to her and she does knit continental. She holds her needle very elegant looking I've seen it before and have tried to change the way I do it, but it just doesn't feel right. She left with just doing the knit cast on and the knit stitch, however Sunday morning she called me before I left and said the purl stitch had come back to her and she had been knitting all morning : )

During the 4th when I was in, I started mom out on this little set from Knit Picks, I got her past the bubbles. With Papa though she hasn't had time to work on it so I finished it up for her, along with the booties. She weaved in all the ends and seamed it up...now it just needs buttons.

I also got all the 1/2 hexagons and edge pieces done on the Mountain Laurel, now we just gotta work on the full counterpanes.

Here is a close up of one of the full counterpanes. I left 3 of the 1/2 hexagons and edge pieces with mom.

Gideon must be very happy to have us home, he tried to sleep on my feet last night, he decided early this morning that we should be up, and he has stuck to my side all day today. : )

Also an update on our stocking project we have 917 more stocking to go. A big thank you to AuburnChick, Molly, Carmen, and those who have shown interest! I'm hoping we get over a 1,000 just in case that number grows. We are also taking up donations for candy, Christmas cards, markers, stickers, quart size ziploc baggies, and small gifts under 3.00. If you need more info there is some on the side of the blog or just contact me.
