Our goal was to unpack a few things and just enjoy it...

so on Saturday after I cleaned a bit, unpacked some more, and had ran to town, I headed out to the deck to enjoy some much needed knitting time. I'm still working on the shawl it takes me a bit longer now that the sections are longer.

The n'bor here has a little granddaughter that is almost 7 so her and Roo made fast friends this weekend. Isaiah was on the outside looking in which is usually what Roo is doing with him and Jackson. Although I think Isaiah enjoyed being able to diddle by himself : )
I also received a phone call from my dad letting me know that my mom had taken my grandfather to the ER and would I call and find them. I did but they had no phone in their room and the nurse said she would pass the message along...about 2hrs later dad called again wanting me to find them again lol at that time they were being discharged from the hospital but the nurse couldn't tell me anything.
When mom came home she called me and my grandfather has been in a lot of pain lately, he had fallen a few wks ago and cracked his hip. Well during the ER trip they X-Rayed and discovered that he had also broken his back in THREE places! No wonder he was in such pain! Please keep him in your prayers he will go for an MRI on Thursday, hopefully they can help him by doing an outpatient procedure...however with his age they are not sure. If not they will try and help him manage the pain

On Sunday our plan was to hang up some pictures and JD was going to work outside, with us ending up on the deck for some enjoyment time. This time I packed along my little computer and enjoyed knitting....

while the kids swam for awhile.
Prolly a little after 4, JD came to me and wanted me to look at his eye, I could see that the right eye was fully dilated to the point you couldn't even tell what color his eye was. At first I thought migraine but he had no headache, then I wondered if maybe coming from the outdoors to indoors had caused it.
After looking it up on the internet (which I think likes to scare people) I tried to talk him into going to the ER but we called the nurse hotline first. When she suggested that we should prolly go we packed up fast and headed to town, which is no longer the 5 minute drive : )
He didn't want me or the kids to go in with him so we waited out in the car and I worked on Roo's twirly skirt. After a long wait and not being able to get a hold of the eye dr they sent him home, with strict instructions of going to the eye dr first thing in the morning. They told him his eye had been traumatized and the reason it wasn't going back to "normal" was 'cause it was paralyzed...they also threw in if it stayed that way he could have permanent vision loss...
I tried to take a picture of the eye last night but it didn't come out very well, we got up this am and called the eye dr. They said for him to be there around 9:30 we got there a little early and it didn't take them long at all. They tested the pressure and his vision and agreed that it was just trauma to the eye and would heal on it's own. Thank you, God! Next time he will have his glasses on while doing yard work...it did look a bit better today and nothing doing he was going to work after we got home. He didn't listen to me though he is sitting over there in the lights with no shades on : )

So while waiting yesterday and today in the car I was able to finish the Twirly Skirt woohoo...as you can see it twirls really well (and yeah the lose ends have yet to be seamed in)

Here it is just on her, I made her size and got the gauge, but it is too big! I might have to make an I-cord anyways so it can be drawn in *sigh*
Pattern: Twirly Skirt
Needle: US 6
Yarn: Plymouth Jeannee in Pink, Beige, Purple, and Blue
Mods: Made in the round took off 4 sts for seam allowance, enclosed waist band in top part of skirt
