Operation 850 Update

We got the ok on Friday to go into the school and have the kids fill in the cards. The two 6th grade classes could handle them on their own but the 2nd grade classes needed us to come in and help. They also thought it would be neat to have the kids fill the stockings and thanks to momwolf on KH that was possible.

She sent me her stockings over-night so we would have enough for the two classes!!

I also got mom’s box of 340 Christmas cards yesterday too, we were worried with today and no mail that I wouldn’t get them till later.

This morning Roo and I sat down and stuffed the cards that had been filled out and wrote Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas on the front of them. We then gathered up what we needed and headed to the school.

When we got there she was telling the student’s about Veterans Day and then we filled them on about what we were doing. I have changed the kid’s pictures to coloring books but you can still get an idea of what went on.

First we passed out the cards to them along with stickers and the teacher put up 3 different messages they could use on the board. They were encouraged to color and draw on their cards as well.

Next, they brought their cards back to me and we stuffed a stocking together and then placed it all in a baggie.

We then thought why not decorate the envelopes too and the kids had fun doing that, of course then we had the fun part of matching the envelopes back up, as well as the kids wanted their envelope with their card lol. Next 2nd grade class we do mental note of passing out cards and envelopes together. Thank you so much to Isaiah’s teacher and the class for letting us come in today. It was a lot of fun!!

Next up we went to the VacShak and dropped off some more cards for them, they are loving me about now I’m sure : ) and Denise gave me her stockings she had finished. They are so cute!! After that we passed out 60 cards to the kid’s church on Wed. nights.

Jackie who is helping me in this madness is making up a sign as we speak to run down to the dance studio with mom’s cards. We will be checking daily for ones that are finished and hoping they are all signed, YAY!

It’s coming along nicely!! I’m so excited for this and all the generous donations we have had of time, cards, stockings, donations, candy, and encouragement. Thank you all so much!!

As of right now we have 295 Stockings left to knit, and I know we can do it! I have 3boxes in my house right now…one box of cards signed and ready to go, one box of stockings ready to be stuffed, and one box of with stockings and cards all ready. Jackie is keeping the blank cards for me so I just run up there and grab boxes when I need them lol.

I can’t say enough how thankful I am for you all!! *hugs*

As for knitting well ya know what I’m working on. : )

I hope you all have a great day of knitting!!

That's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go y'all! The soldiers will really appreciate that; brought tears to my eyes reading your post I can picture how the kids got so excited & I can picture the faces on our soldiers when they get the package. You can't be much more generous than that. Great idea!
